Process Oriented Design: Group Project
Group Project: Maggie Jia and Patricia Witt
2017
The goal of the project was to design a black and white poster that would be used to generate three crowdsourced posters. The black and white poster would provide all the information advertising a local event and the instructions for a crowd to create the visuals for the poster. When considering the rules and methods for what visuals should be generated, it was important to relate the visual content back to the event topic — in our case, a Quilt Expo.
The original black and white poster my team designed is set on a parallelogram grid. The instructions for the crowd is to color in the parallelogram using the example patterns already printed on the poster, color in as many as they can, and avoid coloring inside the letters.
A red, green, and blue poster was created for the project. The colors for each posters were specified. Each poster had three shades different shades of sharpie in their color category, one thick black sharpie, and a thin black pen. The purpose of bringing in different types, colors, and weights of pens was to create depth and texture in the patterns.
